Scripted inquiry will not consider sites.

Nuclear task force will not consider locations, smh.com.au

Howard’s political tampering is becoming more obvious as it heats up to this ‘full-fledged Nuclear debate’ he thinks Australia should have. Whilst he continues to avoid naming any sites for the plant, he’s appointed ruling class chum and former Telstra boss, Ziggy Switkowski. If you wanted evidence that the Liberal party were stacking the inquiry to support their case, it’s this. We all know ruling class fuckwits support each other. Howard helped his company along with various pro-business laws and now Ziggy is going to give the all clear to Howard’s nuclear vision, which will not be in his backyard, of course. If there was going to be site for a Nuclear power station, it should be in Kirribilli. I don’t think he’d like that idea.

I have to give it to the Labor party, though. As much as they piss me off for the function they serve, they’re standing firm against the nuclear option. It’s mainly to do with not committing political suicide, but it’s still nice to see. Of course, the Liberal party seems to not care about public opinion. Maybe Howard’s got another Tampa up his sleeve. Or, he’s just so close to retirement, he wants to do what he likes regardless of the long-term consequences of the party. He did say that he didn’t envisage having any plants built “over the next two to three years.” I’m guessing he can see the political risks of such a move that he doesn’t want it to happen whilst he’s Prime Minister.

Nuclear, energy, environment, Howard
